Production- The production part of the chain is the production companies responsibility. Production involves the creation of the product.

Distribution- record labels are responsible for the marketing of the product.
-Prints: producing physical copies of an album for release.
- A distributer may be part of the same parent company as the production company.
- provide financial assistance for a single track/album by a production company/record label.

Exchange
-Home: the distrubuter is paid by the company who is selling the film for a copy. Example- HMV
-Itunes, Amazon, Spotify, youtube, torrents etc.
- An album is often exhibited through non-profitable means. this is how the institutions drive audeinces to buy their product - Radio, television, adverts.

Places such as HMV have closed down and most sales now are made with technology. Also fans are becoming more like exhibitors as they make covers, fan videos etc. about the product and help with the word of mouth.
